Houston, April 5, 2018 – A new high-rise downtown apartment building boasting close-up views of Minute Maid Park has officially opened, just in time for the start of the regular baseball season. Catalyst, a 359-unit, 28-story high-rise, marks its debut April 5 and is less than 30 percent occupied, according to leasing manager Brandy Vogel.

The apartment complex sits on a city block bounded by Texas Avenue, Austin street, Prairie Street and La Branch Street. It’s the second Catalyst apartment project for Illinois-based multifamily developer Marquette Cos., the first is in Chicago. Marquette received a Downtown Living Initiative grant equal to about $5.4 million from the city. The program gave $15,000 per unit in tax rebates to downtown developers. In 2017, 1,448 residential units were built, according to the Houston Downtown Management District.

Catalyst features more than two dozen floor plans, ranging in size from a little above 600 square feet to close to 2,000 square feet. Rents start around $1,600 per month, with some floor plans receiving two or three months free rent, Vogel said.
